Stardew Valley (game)

Stardew Valley is a great farming roleplay game with an open ending. It was solo-developed by Eric Barone in four years. He created a great pixel art style based game, that you can play alone or with up to four people.

You start off by inheriting your grandfather’s farm and a small amount of coins, a few crops and some tools, which help you with your new farm life. Besides the normal farm activities, like growing plants, feeding your animals or cleaning up the farm, you are also able to explore the mines and build up relationships with the town dwellers. Later in the game you can also marry one out of 12 marriageable characters, if you have created enough friendship levels. You also have to collect certain objects to renovate the community centre, which will give you rewards like new crops. Another thing to do would be fishing in the sea or in a river or in trash cans. You might find something quite interesting there.

In the game all four seasons are represented, so you can grow different types of crops. Each season lasts for 28 ingame days (one ingame day lasts about 14 minutes and 20 seconds in real life). Next to the towns shop, where you can buy crops from the NPC Pierre, you will also find a quest board with various tasks to gain more coins. There is also a calender, which can be found next to it, and where you can see all the important dates of the season, like birthdays or festivals. Of course, there are many secrets and details hidden somewhere in the game, but I won’t spoil it, so you will be suprised, like I was, when you find one.
